Vanilla Ice Arrested For Domestic Battery; Ordered To Stay Away From His Wife

Rapper/reality TV star Vanilla Ice was arrested last night in Florida for an alleged domestic dispute with his wife, Laura Van Winkle.

The cops arrived to their home (after Laura called 911) to find Vanilla Ice (real name Robert Van Winkle) near his home on his motorcycle, where Ice said he was "cooling off" after the incident. Police determined that Laura didn't have any visible injuries on her and she then explained to the authorities that Ice had pushed her, but not hit or kicked her as originally stated in the 911 call. Laura also told the cops who arrived on the scene that she wants a divorce from the one-time rapper and that the incident started over her purchasing a bedroom set, which reportedly set Vanilla Ice off into a rage.

Ice told police that his wife suffers bipolar disorder and that she is currently being treated for it with medications. He said she had been acting irrational and he denied any physical interaction with Laura.

Vanilla Ice spent the night in jail and showed up at a court in Palm Beach County, Florida earlier this morning, where Judge Nancy Perez ordered Ice to stay away from Laura. The former rapper can have telephone contact only with her. In addition, he can only have temporary contact with his children through a mutual family friend and Ice can go to the house one time only to retrieve his personal belongings with a police escort.

Vanilla Ice was also arrested back in 2004 for a charge of domestic battery.
