Spider-Man 3 Premiere A Big Hit in Astoria, Queens NYC

The last stop on the Spider-Man 3 World Premiere tour was here in my hometown of New York City. On Monday April 30th, Spider-Man 3 premiered at a star-studded event at United Artists Kaufman Astoria Theaters in Astoria, Queens. The red carpet was not red at all here, but black to symbolize Venom's entry into the storyline and the darker elements of this film as opposed to the last two. Spidey himself, Tobey Maguire, who was extremely nice and polite, came over for photos and autographs and shook our hands before returning to his lovely fiancee . Lukas Haas did the same very graciously, with his beautiful girlfriend accompanying him down the carpet. James Cromwell was so humble and talked with us fans for a long time while signing autographs. James Franco briefly greeted fans before continuing down the press line. Topher Grace was quickly rushed through the crowd before fans in my section could even get a good look at him. And my favorite who I waited specifically to see was Kirsten Dunst. Kirsten wore a short cropped haircut with bangs and a gold dress. However I took no pictures of her. Nor did I see her face. I saw the back of her head as she was rushed down the carpet. She didnt even turn around or wave to her fans. She disappointed me as well as many of her fans. I only got to see her on the CBS News at 11pm. Kirsten...we want to see YOU! Next time, acknowledge your fans!
Also seen were: Susan Sarandon, Bill Paxton, Lara Spencer of CBS' "The Insider", style guru Phillip Bloch, Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima wearing some HOT 5" pumps, and Diddy (aka Puff Daddy aka P. Diddy) who showed up with his son Justin.

Rob Zombie's "Halloween" Prequel/Remake Completed; Zombie Axes Famous Theme Music and Driving Michael

Rob Zombie has strangely decided to abandon the famous theme music to "Halloween" for his re-envisioning of the classic 1978 John Carpenter film. Now that the film has been completed, Zombie claims the music doesn't fit the direction he has taken the film in. He also abandoned Carpenter's famous killer P.O.V. opening sequence as well as Michael Myers driving around Haddonfield, IL.
I saw the trailer for this film when I went to see "Grindhouse" (which was great) and I was less than impressed. Danielle Harris looks like the film's only saving grace as Annie Brackett. Everything else looks like a sequel to Zombie's earlier works passing itself off as a "Halloween" film. Hopefully the film is better than the trailer.

Rapper/Actress Arrested for DUI; Crashes Her Maserati on Hollywood Boulevard

Rapper/ actress Eve (a.k.a. Eve Jeffers) was arrested yesterday in Hollywood when she crashed her gold Maserati into a divider on Hollywood Boulevard. The L.A.P.D. officers took the 28 year old (who was crying, distraught and in handcuffs) and put her into the police car which transported her to the L.A. County Correctional Facility. She was held on $30,000 bail and received a visit in jail from actor Sean Penn, who reportedly offered the bail money to her which she declined to accept. There were allegedly 2 others in the car at the time of the accident.

Breaking Anna Nicole Baby News: Virgie Arthur fined for wasting Bahamian Court's time in Birkhead Custody Case

The late Anna Nicole Smith's estranged mother Virgie Arthur was shut down today by a judge in a Bahamian Court for wasting the court's time by appealing the decision for Larry Birkhead to leave The Bahamas with 7 month old Dannielynn Smith. Virgie had previously battled for possession of Anna Nicole's body which caused a nearly 3 week delay for funeral and burial arrangements while legal proceedings in Probate Court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida were being held throughout most of February.

Most recently Virgie had been fighting for joint guardianship and joint custody of Anna's baby. She also wanted sole custody and guardianship of the child in the event of Larry Birkhead's death. The judge said he was "perplexed" as to why Virgie's case even made it to his courtroom and he fined her $3,000 dollars for her wasting time and effort of the court. Good for her! No wonder Anna Nicole stayed far, FAR away from Virgie. Like Howard K. Stern said last week to the media, "Virgie has proven herself to be everything Anna Nicole ever told me she was." Well put.

As of now, Larry is free to take the baby back to the U.S.

Hinder and Gym Class Heroes rock Webster Hall in NYC

Last night as a part of the music events of the Tribeca Film Festival, Hinder and Gym Class Heroes performed at Webster Hall in Manhattan, NYC and they kicked ass. Budweiser Select presented the concert and were on hand giving out plenty of free ice cold Budweiser Select beer in awesome new black and red "skinny" cans that resembled energy drink cans.
Gym Class Heroes took the stage at about 8:30 pm and Travis & company rocked the house. Especially notable were their performances of "Shoot Down the Stars", "Viva la White Girl", and the radio and MTV hit "Cupid's Chokehold". They also did great with "The Queen and I" and "Clothes Off" as well. But Travis singing "how sexy we are...how sexy we are, we just don't know it" was hypnotizing. Travis and his Geneva, NY based group are one of the best new artists out there in the industry.
Hinder and their lead singer, the great Austin Winkler of Oklahoma City, OK took the stage about 30 minutes after GCH's departure. They wowed the crowd and kept their attention steadily throughout their performance on stage. "Bliss (I Don't Want to Know)" is the best new rock song I have heard since "It's Not Over" by Daughtry. They performed that song with raw emotion. Of course their MTV/VH1 and radio hits "Better Than Me" and "Lips of an Angel" were the best performances of the entire concert. Austin sounded even better live on these tracks than on the CD. He has a unique voice built for Rock. His movements while singing reminded me strongly of Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses. Which is a good thing because Axl is a legend in his own right. Hinder rocks! The concert was excellent and a great way to kickoff the summer which is right around the corner.

VT Events Causes Temporary Hiatus

Due to the overwhelming emotional response I encountered from the Virginia Tech tragedy on Monday April 16th 2007, less than 48 hours after starting this blog, I decided to take a 10 day hiatus from posting my articles here to commemorate the victims of the worst massacre in recent American history. I felt that nothing that was going on in Hollywood or elsewhere could have been more important than the senseless loss of innocent lives in Blacksburg, VA that day.

Don Imus Fired from CBS and NBC for Racially Charged Comments

The 66 year old "shock jock" Don Imus was let go from both his MSNBC "Imus in the Morning" talk show and his WCBS radio talk show last week. Imus was let go in the wake of the outrage over his comments about the Rutgers University Women's basketball team, calling them "nappy-headed ho's" and making references from Spike Lee's 1988 film "School Daze" (i.e., comparing the women's players to "jigaboos", as a group of young African American female college student characters in
the film called each other). Imus has repeatedly apologized for the comments and even met with the Rev. Al Sharpton but that was not enough to save his radio and television hosting gigs.
Rutgers women's basketball coach C. Vivian Stringer said Friday the team had accepted radio host Don Imus' apology. She said he deserves a chance to move on but hopes the furor will be a catalyst for change.
"We, the Rutgers University Scarlet Knight basketball team, accept — accept — Mr. Imus' apology, and we are in the process of forgiving," Stringer read a statement a day after the women met with Imus and his wife. Imus addressed the team and coach at the meeting in New Brunswick, NJ, stating: "I want to know the pain I caused, and I want to know how to fix this and change this. "

American Idol: Sanjaya is on FIRE!

Sanjaya Malakar stays on "American Idol" yet another week. Yes, it's true! Sanjaya performed "Besame Mucho" on last week's Latin- themed "Idol". The top rated hit show on FOX featured none other than Ms. Jennifer Lopez serving as a mentor to the remaining contestants. Sanjaya didn't even make the Bottom Three this past week, sending viewers into a panic wondering if he may even win the competition. I say his rendition of "Besame Mucho" was brave, and he was the only one to actually sing in spanish, which got my vote!

Welcome to CELEBRITY STAR POWER/ANNA NICOLE SMITH MOVIE IN THE WORKS

Welcome to CELEBRITY STAR POWER,
the latest in celebrity news from New York to Hollywood
and around the globe.

Anna Nicole Smith's tragic death on February 8, 2007 at the Semiole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida has left many in grief and others wondering why America is still talking about her SO MUCH after her untimely demise. Well Anna Nicole fans, there is an Anna Nicole Smith biopic in the works starring Willa Ford (Dancing With The Stars) in the title role. Production on the independent feature may start as soon as next week (initially it was reported filming would begin this June) in Los Angeles with the filmmakers pushing for a fall release.

I can't wait to see how it all turns out! I am a big fan of Anna's, she truly was our Marilyn Monroe for this generation.
